WELCOME

Plans aren't finalized, yet, but I should be coaching the Leukemia Society's Team-In-Training riders for the Seagull Century in October. The training rides are open to anyone who's interested, and we'll be doing lots of regular riding in Centre and surrounding counties this summer.

Are you interested in increasing your long-distance riding? Like to ride a metric century (62 miles)? A full century of 100 miles? Prepping for that dream touring vacation? Just wanna go a little farther or faster than last year?

No matter what your goal, whether you want to survive or thrive, this series of rides will gradually build up your legs and conditioning (and, uh, butt). Starting in mid-June, with the goal of riding a century in September (October for TNT riders), the ride lengths and speeds increase in small steps over 16 weeks and before you know it, you'll be riding as long and as far as you want.

I thought of that
while riding my bike. -- Albert Einstein, on the theory of relativity

The bicycle,
the bicycle surely, should always be the vehicle of novelists and poets.  -- Christopher Morley

What do you call a cyclist
who doesn't wear a helmet?
An organ donor. -- David Perry

It is curious
that with the advent of the automobile and the airplane, the bicycle is still with us. Perhaps people like the world they can see from a bike, or the air they breathe when they're out on a bike. Or they like the bicycle's simplicity and the precision with which it is made. Or because they like the feeling of being able to hurtle through air one minute, and saunter through a park the next, without leaving behind clouds of choking exhaust, without leaving behind so much as a footstep. -- Gurdon S. Leete
